A short science lesson, and then a new product we'd like to tell you about.
Chronic stress operates through two systems. Most supplements only address one.
Chronic stress works through two distinct biological systems that, in an ideal world, would work together… but do not.
The first is your nervous system — specifically the balance between excitation and inhibition in the brain. Under chronic stress, this balance tips toward excitation: heightened alertness, difficulty switching off, racing thoughts, fragmented sleep. The brain's primary inhibitory neurotransmitter — the one responsible for the 'off switch' — becomes outgunned.
The second is your hormonal stress axis — the HPA (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) system. Under chronic stress, this axis gets stuck in a permanent 'on' state, producing cortisol long after the original stressor has passed. The adrenal glands, built for short bursts of acute response, were not designed for the relentless low-level demands of modern life.
Most supplements address only one of these: something to calm the nerves, or something to modulate cortisol. The gap — a single formula that works on both, through complementary, non-overlapping mechanisms — is the gap we've been trying to close.
Introducing Liposomal GABA + Ashwagandha KSM-66
Two well-researched compounds, each addressing a different side of the stress response, in a single capsule.
The neural side: GABA (delivered properly)
Gamma-aminobutyric acid — GABA — is the brain's primary inhibitory neurotransmitter. Its job is to slow excitatory signals, reduce neural 'chatter', and allow the nervous system to shift out of high-alert mode. Adequate GABA activity is associated with calm, sleep onset, and a measured stress response.
Supplementing GABA directly makes intuitive sense. The catch has always been delivery: a significant proportion of standard oral GABA is degraded or metabolised before it can exert its effect. This is exactly the gap liposomal delivery was built for. The GABA molecule is encapsulated within a phospholipid bilayer — the same material cell membranes are made of — which protects it in transit and enhances absorption, delivering more of the active compound in a form the body can use.
It's the same principle that underlies our Liposomal Vitamin C, D3+K2, and CoQ10 — and it's why we held off on a GABA product until we could formulate it this way.
The hormonal side: Ashwagandha KSM-66
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) has been used in Ayurvedic practice for centuries. More recently, it has become one of the most clinically studied adaptogens in the world — specifically for its effects on the HPA axis, cortisol, and the subjective experience of stress.
Not all ashwagandha is equal. KSM-66 is a high-concentration, full-spectrum root extract that has been the subject of most of the significant clinical trial work on ashwagandha and stress. It is standardised to a minimum of 5% withanolides — the bioactive compounds responsible for its adaptogenic effects — and is produced from the root alone, which has the most robust evidence base. When you see ashwagandha referenced in clinical literature on cortisol and stress reduction, KSM-66 is most often the extract being studied.
Where GABA works fast on the neural side, KSM-66 works longer-term on the hormonal side — moderating the cortisol response and supporting the system's ability to return to baseline.
The full formula: four more actives working with GABA
GABA and KSM-66 are the hero compounds, but they don't work alone. Three supporting ingredients were formulated in to strengthen both sides of the mechanism — not as filler, but because each one has a specific job to do.
Chamomile extract (100 mg). A traditional relaxant with a long clinical history in sleep and anxiety research. It works through several pathways that overlap with GABA activity, reinforcing the calming effect without sedating.
Lemon balm extract (50 mg). This one has a direct pharmacological tie to the GABA story: lemon balm contains compounds that inhibit the enzyme responsible for breaking GABA down. Less breakdown means GABA's calming effect lasts longer — a genuine synergy with the liposomal GABA delivery, not a parallel effect.
Folate as 5-methylfolate (400 mcg). The active, bioavailable form of folate. Folate is an essential cofactor for GABA synthesis — without adequate folate, the body struggles to make GABA efficiently from its precursors. Including it as 5-methylfolate means the body doesn't have to convert it first; it's ready to use.
Taken together — GABA delivered with liposomes, KSM-66 at clinical-grade standardisation, plus three ingredients chosen for their specific contribution to the GABA pathway — the formulation is designed to do one thing well, across two biological systems.
Clinical context. On the neural side, Abdou et al. (2006) reported that oral GABA produced measurable EEG changes within 60 minutes — increased alpha activity (associated with relaxation) and decreased beta activity (associated with mental stress). A randomised placebo-controlled trial by Byun et al. (2018) found that GABA supplementation significantly reduced sleep latency and improved sleep efficiency in adults with insomnia symptoms. On the hormonal side, Chandrasekhar et al. (2012) — the foundational KSM-66 trial — reported a significant reduction in serum cortisol and in stress and anxiety scores in chronically stressed adults over 60 days. Different mechanisms; complementary effects.

Complementary products — stackable, not redundant
Liposomal GABA + Ashwagandha KSM-66 is the fast-to-medium-acting core of a stress resilience stack: GABA acts within the hour, KSM-66 builds its effect over weeks. For longer-term adaptogenic support, Reishi and Jiaogulan work through different mechanisms again — they complement the new formula rather than overlap with it.
Reishi
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) supports the immune system and promotes the kind of restful sleep that's the first casualty of sustained cortisol elevation. It has been an approved adjunct to stress-related conditions in Japan and China for decades.

Jiaogulan
Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum) works through its own bidirectional adaptogenic action — providing energy or calm depending on what the body's state requires. It contains more than 170 types of saponins, the bioactive compounds responsible for its adaptogenic effects. Ginseng, for context, contains 28.
Together with Liposomal GABA + Ashwagandha KSM-66, they form a layered approach: immediate neural support, medium-term hormonal support, and long-term adaptogenic resilience.
