Also known as master-antioxidant, glutathione is a simple molecule made up of three amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) – cysteine, glycine and glutamine. Every cell in the body makes its own glutathione. Glutathione traps free radicals and toxins and removes them from the body. As you age, your body does not make as much glutathione as it did in your peak years. In fact, glutathione production in the body begins to decline after you hit your 20s. Unhealthy lifestyle, medications, infections, chronic stress and exposure to chemicals and toxins lead to excessive production of free radicals, and cause your body to use more glutathione (and also other antioxidants) to neutralize free radicals and limit the oxidative damage. This leads to glutathione deficiency. Poor magnesium levels also create a shortage of glutathione as you need magnesium to make this master-antioxidant. Low levels of glutathione lead to increased oxidative damage and accumulation of toxins – causing chronic inflammation, faster ageing and poor immunity. 1. Glutathione: One of the most powerful antioxidants your body makes Glutathione is popularly known as the “mother of all antioxidants’ or “master antioxidant” and it is not without a reason. It is one of the most powerful endogenous antioxidants (produced by the body on its own). Since it is present within the cells, it offers cells and its fragile structures first-hand protection from oxidative damage. Regenerated in the liver once it has been used by the body Strengthens body’s antioxidant power by reactivating other important antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, CoQ10 and alpha-lipoic acid Protects DNA from oxidation during cell division Repairs DNA damage Protects immune cells from oxidative damage Destroys hydroxyl free radicals, the most harmful species of free radicals that are produced during exposure to ionizing radiation. 2. Glutathione in detoxification and liver function Glutathione plays a very important role in eliminating all kinds of toxins from the body, including heavy metals, drugs and chemicals. Accumulation of heavy metals and oxidative damage impacts brain health in particular. These two factors are strongly associated with the development of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Protects liver from the oxidative damage due to free radicals, produced during detoxification process. Binds with toxins so they are water-soluble and can be easily expelled from the body through kidneys, intestines and skin. By making toxins water soluble, glutathione prevents them from being retained in fatty tissues and causing long-term damage. Can help in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease [3] 3. Glutathione in immunity Glutathione plays a huge role in both innate (natural) and adaptive (acquired) immunity. Low levels can adversely affect immune functions, making you vulnerable to developing infections. All immune cells, including T cells, produce glutathione. Increases the production of white blood cells Activates immune cells Protects immune cells from oxidative damage caused by toxic by-products that are naturally produced when your immune system fights pathogens. Activates natural killer cells that help control the growth of TB (tuberculosis) causing mycobacteria [1] Helps T cells to produce energy and launch immune responses required to fight infections and even cancer. [2] 4. Glutathione in exercise performance There are many reasons why glutathione is used by athletes to boost their exercise performance. Heavy, strenuous exercise triggers excessive production of free radicals that not only cause oxidative damage in the muscle cells but also promote inflammation, increases soreness in muscles and supresses immunity. This results in muscle fatigue, burn-out and poor exercise performance. Glutathione improves exercise performance as it: Reduces oxidative stress caused by exercise Reduces muscle fatigue and improves energy levels Helps in tissue repair and faster recovery Improves heart function Boosts immunity and reduces risk of infections What do low glutathione levels mean for your health? Increased oxidative damage and chronic inflammation Reduced energy levels Poor liver function and reduced ability to get rid of toxins Poor immune functions and increased risk of infections DNA damage Premature cellular ageing and increased risk of age-related chronic diseases Bonne Sante Liposome Glutathione Regular oral glutathione supplements may not be very helpful in increasing your glutathione levels because of poor absorption and bio-availability. Most of the glutathione, when ingested, is broken down by the elements of the digestive system. So, only a very small amount is able to enter the bloodstream – leading to poor bioavailability and poor absorption rates. Bioavailability is the amount of a substance available for the cells to use and absorb. This is where a high quality liposomal glutathione supplement can help: Improves absorption and bioavailability Contains reduced form of glutathione (GSH), a form that can readily neutralize free radicals by donating electrons Contains vitamin E which helps boost GSH levels References: Allen et al. Sacha inchi (Plukenetia Volubilis) is a plant native to South America and now also widely grown in Southeast Asia. Also known as sacha peanut, Inca peanut or mountain peanut, it produces star shaped fruit that contain edible seeds. Sacha Inchi seeds are gaining immense popularity among the health conscious. Shelled seeds are generally eaten dry roasted or they can also be grounded to use as protein powder. Cold pressed oil, extracted from raw seeds, is another popular and also a healthier way of using Sacha Inchi. Indigenous peoples in the Amazon rainforest have been using Sacha Inchi for more than 3,000 years for its health benefits, that clearly stem from its incredible nutritional content. The oil and roasted seeds have been used to control cholesterol levels, maintain cardiovascular health and support gastrointestinal health. [1] Let’s take a look. Sacha Inchi oil: A powerhouse of nutrition Loaded with omega fatty acids Seeds of Sacha Inchi contains several essential amino acids that your body can’t make on its own, making it a complete source of protein. Contains amino acid tryptophan that helps the body make serotonin, a feel-good hormone that also help regulate appetite. Good source of antioxidant substances such asphytosterols, tocopherols (vitamin E) and carotenoids (vitamin A) [2] A good source of vitamin C, iron, potassium, calcium and magnesium Not known to cause allergies or irritation. Omega 3 fatty acids in Sacha Inchi oil Sacha Inchi is loaded with omega fatty acids, healthy fats that perform a wide range of functions in the body. [1,3] Most importantly, omega 3 (n-3) and omega 6 (n-6) fatty acids are an important constituent of your cell membranes. And your body uses these fats as a precursor to make hormones that regulate several critical processes in the body such as blood clotting, brain functions, immune functions, contraction and dilation of artery walls, and inflammation. They also play a crucial role in preserving bone health and promote healthy skin and hair growth. There are three types of n-3: ALA, DHA and EPA. Your body can’t make ALA on its own and you must get it through dietary sources. Sacha Inchi seeds contain very high amounts of omega 3 fatty acids in the form of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) that is converted into EPA and DHA in the body. Both EPA and AHA are known to prevent the risk of cardiovascular disease by improving blood pressure, inflammation, and many other heart-related parameters. These omega fatty acids also improve cognitive performance and protect against mood disorders and depression. ALA also offers incredible health benefits and is found to be effective in preventing cardiovascular disease. [4-5]. Offers healthy balance between omega 3 and omega 6 fats Sacha Inchi oil contains omega-3 (n-3) and omega-6 fatty acids (n-6) in a healthy ratio. [6] Both fats are important for maintaining good health, but it is important to maintain a good balance. While excess of n-6 encourages inflammation, healthy amounts of n-3 help the body produce anti-inflammatory substances. [7] With increased use of vegetable oil, our diet is already loaded with too much of omega-6. Sacha Inchi oil health benefits Here are some of the major benefits in more detail 1. Lowers inflammation: Omega 3 oils in Sacha Inchi reduce inflammation in the body. An inflammatory environment in the body brings on premature aging and increases the risk of all kinds of chronic conditions such as heart disease, arthritis, type 2 diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s. Using powerful anti-inflammatory like Sacha Inchi may help reduce inflammation and inflammatory conditions. 2. Heart health: Sacha Inchi oil offers amazing benefits to your cardiac health, thanks to its high omega 3 content. [8-9] Reduces inflammation in arteries – that contributes to the formation of plaque. Excessive build-up of plaque chokes the arteries and increases risk of heart disease and stroke. Lowers high blood pressure Reduces total cholesterol levels and increases good (HDL) cholesterol for people with high cholesterol. Prevents blood clotting 3. Brain functions and emotional health: Omega 3 nourishes the nervous system. Your brain needs healthy fats for proper functioning, to build cell membrane, and to nourish and repair damaged brain cells. n-3 fatty acids also lower inflammation in the brain while tryptophan content helps maintain emotional well-being. Omega 3s help fight inflammation, known to cause neuro-degenerative diseases and decline in cognitive functions. This anti-inflammatory mechanism may help Sacha Inchi oil lower pain responses, cognitive decline, memory loss, dementia and even depression. Sacha Inchi contains tryptophan, an amino acid that is converted into serotonin, a neurotransmitter also called the happy hormone or feel-good hormone. Healthy serotonin levels are associated with good mood, calmness and positive feelings. Serotonin regulates mood eases symptoms of anxiety and depression. 4. Supports bone health: Omega 3 fatty acids helps the body absorb calcium. Enhances bone mineral density Minimizes bone loss as you grow older 5. Improves eyes, skin and hair health: Sacha Inchi oil is rich in omega 3 and antioxidant substances (phenolic compounds, vitamin E and vitamin A) [9]. All these ingredients help nourish the skin, and protect eyes and skin from oxidative damage and inflammation. Moisturises skin, maintains its elasticity and prevents ultimate formation of fine lines and wrinkles Reduces UV induced skin damage Supports eye health and delays the development of macular degeneration and cataracts Helps in hair growth The best Sacha Inchi oil capsules Our Sacha Inchi oil capsules contain high-quality, Virgin cold pressed oil extracted from raw, untreated seeds. It is free of any chemicals or additives. Precautions If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any medications, consult with a doctor before using this supplement. SANUSq Health Anti-Fatigue Bundle
SANUSq Health: Anti-Fatigue Bundle Relieves intense fatigue and mental exhaustion Feeling tired and worn-out? You may think it is the new normal but unrelenting fatigue is usually a symptom of a nutritional deficiency, hormonal imbalance or an underlying (and often undiagnosed) medical condition such as thyroid disorder and diabetes. Chronic stress is another culprit that increases cortisol levels and causes adrenal fatigue which typically feels like extreme lethargy, body aches, trouble waking up in the morning and low energy. DGCCRF registered (France) FDA registered (Thailand) Additionally, people with a weak immune system often feel exhausted and more tired than usual even after getting good rest. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and worried about intense fatigue that is causing a dent in your physical health, mental well-being and overall "quality of life", it is time to claim your right to live a healthy life. Our "Anti-fatigue" bundle is especially curated to address fatigue coming from various sources. It brings together two powerful natural ingredients that work as a prefect duo to combat fatigue and stress. For example both Reishi mushroom and Moringa provide a long-term energy boost (versus a short-term boost that you get from drinking coffee or eating something sugary), help combat fatigue and boost immunity. And as an adaptogenic herb, Reishi mushroom helps the body cope with stress and restores hormonal imbalance caused by stress, anxiety and adrenal fatigue. Both Reishi and Moringa are loaded with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that offer a wide range of many other health benefits that directly and indirectly work towards preventing, eliminating or reducing fatigue. Reishi Mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum): Also known as Lingzhi mushroom, or the mushroom of immortality, reishi rejuvenates the body and boosts energy and stamina. Reishi is an adaptogenic herb, a unique class of herbs that are known to relieve stress and protect the body from the damage caused by stress, toxins, disease and ageing. As an adaptogen, reishi calms the nerves, nourishes adrenal health, reduces fatigue and promotes healthy, restful sleep. It is also a good source of minerals, vitamins and essential amino acids that provide energy and help reduce exhaustion. Beta-glucans and triterpenes are two of the most active compounds in Reishi and their powerful anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties help strengthen immunity and provide better protection and faster healing from infections, stress and fatigue. In addition, fatigue is also an important predictor of cardiovascular health. Extreme exhaustion can be a sign of heart disease and poor heart function, as reduced blood flow to the organs and tissues cause symptoms such as fatigue, weakness and shortness of breath. Reishi keeps your heart and blood vessels healthy, by reducing oxidative damage, improving blood circulation, regulating blood pressure and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. A study found that reishi can help improve the quality of life in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, by reducing the severity of side-effects such as stress and fatigue. In addition, a study found that reishi can help improve symptoms of fatigue in neurasthenia, a condition in which a person may feel extreme physical and mental exhaustion. This burnout feeling is similar to the symptoms experienced in chronic fatigue syndrome. Reishi supplements also provide relief in fibromyalgia symptoms, especially fatigue, depression and pain. (Read Here to know more about Reishi health benefits). Moringa (Moringa Oleifera): Well-known for its rich nutritional profile, Moringa is a perfect supplement to manage fatigue that often comes with nutritional deficiencies. It is power packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant compounds such as flavonoids, vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene (vitamin A) and most B vitamins (known for their crucial role in energy production), calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Moringa also helps to boost immunity, maintain bone health, balance hormones and support heart health. Research show that moringa contains more vitamin C than oranges, more vitamin A than carrots, more iron than spinach and more calcium than milk. As an excellent source of iron, you can use moringa as a natural supplement to reverse anemia that causes symptoms of intense fatigue, sleepiness, and low energy levels. (Read Here to know more about Moringa health benefits). Don't let intense fatigue impact your social life, mental health and your ability to perform in the workplace. The SANUSq Botanique "Anti-fatigue" bundle will add the much-needed boost of energy that will help you overcome fatigue, feel energetic and enjoy an active, fulfilling life with a spring in your step. Getting enough sleep, engaging in regular exercise, taking a healthy diet and maintaining your thyroid and blood sugar levels are some ways that will help you get the most of the anti-fatigue benefits offered by our bundle. SANUSq Health Gurmar + Moringa bundle
SANUSq Health: Gurmar and Moringa bundle For healthy glucose metabolism and nutritional support DGCCRF registered (France) #2022-12-60 [View PDF Certificate] Gurmar (Gymnema Sylvestre) and Moringa (Moringa Oleifera) are two popular ayurvedic herbs with amazing medicinal properties. Both herbs are rich in antioxidant compounds that work in various ways to nourish the body, protect tissues from oxidative damage and reduce the risk of many diseases. While Gurmar is known for its ability to regulate blood sugar levels and nourish the pancreas, the leaves of the moringa plant are packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidant compounds that help overcome malnutrition, prevent anaemia, strengthen bones and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Both these herbs have been an important part of the Ayurvedic system of medicine for thousands of years. The combination of moringa and gurmar works as an excellent source of antioxidants that help neutralize nasty free radicals that damage the body and cause inflammation, diseases and premature cellular ageing. In addition, both of these herbs synergistically influence glucose metabolism and stimulate the pancreas. The broad spectrum of bioactive compounds in both herbs helps the body process sugar better and keeps blood sugar levels in check by restoring the function of beta cells of the pancreas, stimulating insulin production and improving insulin sensitivity. Our gurmar moringa bundle keeps you overall-healthy and is great for your immunity, heart, bones, skin and hair. Health benefits of Gurmar Gurmar, or Gymnema Sylvestre, is particularly known for its benefits in lowering blood sugar levels. [1-3] The sugar-reducing benefits are in fact reflected in its name that translates to gur (sugar) and mar (destroyer). Research shows that gurmar may help prevent and manage type 2 diabetes as it suppresses sugar cravings, improves the production of insulin, regenerates the pancreas and protects beta cells of the pancreas from the oxidative damage caused by free radicals. It also helps in weight loss and in reducing inflammation. The leaves of the gurmar plant contain significant amounts of bioactive compounds such as gurmarin, gymnemic acid and gymnemasaponins, which are mainly responsible for the incredible health benefits gurmar is known for, particularly for pancreas and sugar metabolism. Regulates blood sugar levels Nourishes and repairs pancreas Reduces the risk of metabolic syndrome Helps in weight management Improves metabolism Helps in digestive disorders Stimulates liver functions Reduces burning sensation in the eyes Helps in skin problems Beneficial in eye disorders Health benefits of Moringa DGCCRF registered (France) #2022-12-61 [View PDF Certificate] The leaves of moringa are power packed with vitamins, minerals and amino acids. [4] In fact, moringa contains more vitamin C than oranges, more calcium than milk, more protein than yoghurt and more iron than spinach. Fresh moringa leaves also contain high amounts of vitamin E, similar to the concentrations found in nuts. Powder made from dried moringa leaves also add minerals like magnesium, zinc, iron, copper, and phosphorus to your diet. Such an impressive nutritional profile makes moringa extremely good for bones, immunity, skin, hair and overall health. Moringa is also a very rich source of bioactive compounds such as beta carotene, alkaloids, flavonoids (myrecytin, quercetin and kaempferol), isothiocyanates, saponins and phenolic acids (chlorogenic acid). [5-6] This incredible combination of nutrients and antioxidants in moringa leaves is the reason why it reduces oxidative damage in tissues, lowers body-wide inflammation and provides immense health benefits. For example, chlorogenic acid (CGA), a major phenolic acid in moringa, plays an important role in glucose metabolism. Other compounds in moringa leaves reduce blood pressure and keep your arteries and heart healthy. Excellent source of nutrition Boosts energy and reduces fatigue Maintains hormonal balance Reduces high blood sugar levels [7] Prevents anaemia Good for heart Improves skin and hair health Strengthens bones For more information about Gurmar and Moringa, please visit the individual product pages. Vitamin C is great for your immunity. But it also plays a lot of other important roles in the body. You need vitamin C for the growth and repair of your connective tissues. It also protects cells and tissues from oxidative damage – thus supporting the health of your heart, bones, eyes, gums, teeth and skin. Vitamin C boosts immunity. It works as a powerful antioxidant that protects cells and tissues from oxidative damage. You also need vitamin C to make collagen. All these properties are the reason why vitamin C is required for tissue growth and repair, and plays such an important role in supporting the health of your heart, bones, eyes, gums, teeth and skin. Vitamin C in collagen synthesis Vitamin C is an essential co-factor in the production of collagen, which is the main protein of connective tissues in the, cartilage, blood vessels, cornea and blood vessels. Provides structure and strength to the connective tissues Helps repair damaged tissue and heal wounds Keeps skin healthy and supple Vitamin C is an essential co-factor in the production of collagen, an important component of the connective tissues. This fibrous protein is found in cartilage, skin, bones, tendons, muscles, cornea, blood vessels and intestines. Collagen: Provides structure and strength to the connective tissues Helps repair damaged tissue and heal wounds Keeps skin healthy, elastic and supple Keeps joint healthy Vitamin C as an antioxidant Vitamin C protects your cells from the damaging effects of free radicals and environmental toxins. Studies show that it can even protect the DNA from oxidative damage caused by ionizing radiation. Vitamin C is also required for: Synthesis of carnitine, a nutrient that transports long chain fatty acids to mitochondria to produce energy Folic acid synthesis Conversion of cholesterol into bile Iron absorption Synthesis of catecholamines, hormones produced by the adrenal glands You can get a healthy dose of vitamin C with regular consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables. However, poor diet lacking in whole, raw foods can reduce your vitamin C levels. Age, smoking, pregnancy, breastfeeding and exposure to heavy metals and toxins not only increases your risk of developing a deficiency but also increases your body’s need for more vitamin C. Since you can’t make your own vitamin C, you must rely on foods rich in vitamin C or high-quality vitamin C supplements to be healthy and resistant to chronic diseases. Insufficient vitamin C levels in the body lead to poor collagen synthesis, which can result in weak tissues, impaired tissue repair and poor wound healing. Chronic vitamin C deficiency can lead to scurvy with typical symptoms of bleeding gums, wounds that heal slowly, loss of teeth, easy bruising, muscle and bone pain, rough skin and spontaneous bleeding. Since you also need vitamin C for a lot of other functions, chronic deficiency can have huge consequences for your overall health. 1. Vitamin C in immunity Vitamin C is known to reduce the severity and duration of colds. It has been found to be effective in the prevention and treatment of respiratory and systemic infections [1]. Did you know some types of white cells, such as phagocytes and T-cells, contain more vitamin C than other cells so as to enable them to perform their functions? [2]Low vitamin C levels affect your immune functions and make you prone to developing infections and disease. In addition, your body utilizes more vitamin C when you are dealing with an infection to reduce inflammation and fulfil other metabolic requirements. Boosts the production as well as activity of white blood cells and antibodies Increases the production of interferons, proteins secreted by white blood cells and natural killer cells. Interferons affect the ability of viruses to reproduce. Protects immune cells from toxic by-products, naturally produced when immune cells are fighting against pathogens. 2. Vitamin C in heart health It’s role in collagen synthesis in blood vessels and its anti-oxidant properties make vitamin C a very important nutrient for your heart. Studies show that people with high blood pressure have low vitamin C levels in the blood. Vitamin C deficiency may also increase the risk of hypertension (high blood pressure), major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. [3] Maintains the structure and integrity of your blood vessels and endothelium (a thin layer of cells that lines the inside of the blood vessels). Strong and resilient blood vessels reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. Prevents LDL oxidation, a huge risk factor for atherosclerosis Reduces LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood [4] Lowers the risk of atrial fibrillation (irregular beating of the heart) after heart surgery. [5] 3. Vitamin C in eye health Did you know the fluid inside your eye literally bathes in vitamin C? Vitamin C protects the lens of the eye form oxidative damage, known to cause degenerative eye disorders such as cataracts and macular degeneration. Reduces risk of cataracts, where the lens becomes cloudy and causes reduced vision [6] [7] Slows the progression of age-related macular degeneration [8] 4. Vitamin C in stress Did you know your adrenal glands store the highest amounts of vitamin C? Adrenal glands need vitamin C to make hormones like cortisol. When you are under a lot of stress, your body ends up using more vitamin C to make more cortisol and other stress hormones. In chronic stress, your adrenal glands work overtime and soon get exhausted, releasing more cortisol. How does vitamin C help? Improves body’s response to stress by normalizing cortisol levels [9] Reduces effects of stress Helps in the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, anxiety and brain function Reduces anxiety symptoms [10] Reduces oxidative damage and inflammation caused by chronic stress. Strengthens immunity, affected by high stress levels. A healthy, well-functioning immune system helps the body fight with stress and its health implications much more effectively. 5. Vitamin C in bone health Vitamin C is an extremely important micronutrient for your bones; due to both its antioxidant properties and its role as a co-factor in collagen synthesis. Collagen is an important protein of the bone matrix and works as a foundation for bone mineralization. Studies suggest low vitamin C levels may be associated with the development of osteoporosis and increased fracture risk. [11] Preserves bone mineral density and lowers fracture risk in the elderly, especially among postmenopausal women. [12] [13] Lowers oxidative damage and inflammation in bones. Inflammation can lead to bone resorption, a process where bone tissue is broken down. Helps in fast healing of fractures and prevents complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), a painful process associated with fracture healing. [14] Reduces symptoms in people with osteoarthritis of the knee. [15] 6. Vitamin C for smokers Smokers need more vitamin C than non-smokers to neutralize free radicals caused by smoking. In addition, smoking lowers vitamin C levels in the body. It is a double challenge that can be resolved by supplying your body with healthy amounts of vitamin C. Smoking also damages blood vessels and increases the risk of heart disease, another area where vitamin C can help immensely. Prevents oxidative damage and improves endothelial functions Helps repair blood vessels (collagen helps repair damaged cells and tissues) Supports adrenal glands Strengthens immune system 7. Vitamin C and cancer While many studies show vitamin C may be very effective in cancer treatment, it is not a very widely accepted norm in mainstream medicine. Interestingly, the data from these studies shows that there is something more to vitamin C than its antioxidant properties that may help in cancer treatment. And some of this is to do with its ability to selectively destroy cancer cells and leave healthy cells unscathed. [16] [17] The role of vitamin C in the treatment of cancer may still be controversial, but most experts agree that it can be used as an adjunct to enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy, support the immune system and improve the quality of life in cancer patients. Bonne Sante Liposome Vitamin C Our vitamin C supplement uses liposome-based technology, where vitamin C is protectively enclosed in small bubbles made of phospholipids, a type of fat similar to what our cell membranes are made of. These tiny spheres protect vitamin C from getting wasted during digestion and deliver it directly into the blood circulation and to the cells. This enhances the bio-availability and absorption of vitamin C by the cells. Problem with capsule and tablet vitamin C supplements A very small amount of vitamin C is absorbed by the body and reaches the cells. Most of it is destroyed by harsh environment in the digestive tract. High doses of capsule and tablet supplements cause gastrointestinal symptoms like cramping, bloating and diarrhea. Benefits of liposomal technology • Improves the amount of vitamin C that reaches cells and tissues.• No adverse gastrointestinal effects Precautions Vitamin C increases iron absorption. Get your ferritin levels checked before you start using liposomal vitamin C. Too much iron in the body can increase your risk of heart disease. Your ferritin levels should be less than 80 ng/mL and transferrin saturation should be less than 40%. Consult your healthcare professional if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and also to determine if the supplement is suitable for children. References: Carr et al. Vitamin C and Immune Function. But did you know you also need vitamin K2 to help this calcium reach bones? By doing so, vitamin K2 helps improve bone mineral density. Vitamin K2 also prevents calcium from getting into your soft tissues such as blood vessels. Excessive deposits of calcium in the arteries can contribute to atherosclerosis, hardening and narrowing of arteries that can block the blood flow. Atherosclerosis increases your risk of angina, heart disease and stroke. While a healthy diet and exercise can help prevent or reverse the risk, taking supplements that may reduce calcium build-up in the arteries and reduce inflammation can be very useful too. Together, vitamins D3 and K2 make sure the body can use calcium properly and more effectively. This supports bone and heart health. Vitamin D3: How it works? Vitamin D is well-recognized for its role in regulating calcium levels and forming strong bones. Whether you are getting calcium from your diet or through supplements, it needs to be absorbed and that’s where vitamin D helps. Vitamin D is also known for many other important health benefits. This is how it works: Almost every cell of your body has receptors for vitamin D. These receptors, called VDRs, are present in the cells of the intestines, heart, breasts, lungs, hormone glands, thyroid glands, immune system and muscles. The active form of vitamin D binds to these receptors and activates various genes, responsible for making all kinds of proteins and enzymes, which tell the body how to work. For example, VDRs in the intestines bind to the vitamin D, get activated and will activate genes that help the body absorb calcium and phosphorus. Similarly, when vitamin D binds to the receptors in the cells of the immune system, this process activates genes that stimulate the production of anti-bacterial proteins to fight infections. Vitamin D3: Health benefits Helps in calcium absorption, required for strong, healthy bones Prevents osteoporosis Regulates immunity Helps the body fight infections Reduces risk of autoimmune disorders [1] Reduces risk of respiratory infections, asthma and allergies [2-3] Lowers the risk of heart disease Reduces inflammation Long-term vitamin D3 deficiency is a risk factor for many serious health conditions – such as osteoporosis, heart disease, eye disorders (diabetic retinopathy, dry eye, macular degeneration and myopia), asthma, respiratory infections, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, poor cognitive functions, depression, diabetes, pregnancy complications, and autoimmune disorders (thyroid disease, IBS, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis). Vitamin D 3 deficiency in pregnancy may increase the risk of allergies, asthma, wheezing disorders and even autism in the babies Your body can make enough vitamin D3 in the presence of sunlight. But both adults and children are increasingly spending less time outdoors. Increased use of sunscreen and the fear of developing skin cancer also limit sun exposure, that has resulted in widespread deficiency. In addition to inadequate sun exposure, old age, obesity and kidney disorders also cause vitamin D deficiency. Magnesium also plays an important role in the proper absorption and utilization of vitamin D in the body and its deficiency can also lead to low vitamin D levels. Taking high quality liposomal vitamin D3 can help you maintain healthy levels and reverse the shortage that is associated with weak bones, poor immunity and autoimmune disorders. Vitamin K2: How it works? There are two types of vitamin K – K1 and K2. And that both have different functions? While both vitamins are needed for healthy blood clotting, it is vitamin K2 that plays a more important role in supporting your bone and heart health. It is because vitamin K2 controls where the calcium goes. Vitamin K2: Activates osteocalcin, a protein that binds calcium in the bloodstream and takes it to the bones Activates Matrix Gla-protein (MGP), a protein that prevents calcium from getting accumulated in soft tissues, such as arteries, kidneys and muscles Functions as an anti-oxidant Vitamin K2: Health benefits Improves bone health Reduces the risk of osteoporosis and fractures [4-5] Reduces the risk of heart disease [6-8] Helps in healthy blood clotting Improves health in post-menopausal women Lowers inflammation Improves insulin sensitivity Vitamin K2 is primarily found in fermented foods like natto, sauerkraut and cheese. Organic, grass-fed animal products, especially liver, egg yolk and butter, are also a good source of K2. However, it is not possible to get a sufficient amount of K2 from your diet alone, especially if it is lacking in fermented foods. In addition, ageing, long-term use of antibiotics and statins, liver disease and gastrointestinal disorders such as Celiac or Crohn’s disease can make you K2 deficient. In these cases, a reliable liposomal vitamin K2 supplement is your best choice to prevent vitamin K2 deficiency. Bonne Sante Liposome Vitamin D3+K2 Better absorption and bio-availability of nutrients Direct transportation of nutrients to the target cells, without any loss or degradation during digestion Precautions This product does not replace a healthy, wholesome diet. It is meant to be used as a dietary supplement. Always consult your doctor before using any supplement, especially if you are already taking prescribed medications or herbal supplements. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and to determine if the supplement is suitable for children. References: Hahn et al.
